3 3/4 cups rolled oats
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 1/4 Tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 Tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups butter - melted
1 cup white sugar
3 lbs. frozen berries (mixed is nice)
Easy: Mix all dry ingredients (except white sugar) together and place in storage container, zip-lock bag, prior to trip.
Instructions:
Bake at 375°-425°. See chart for briquettes required. This recipe is for a deep 10 inch dutch oven.Pre-heat the dutch oven lid by placing charcoal briquettes evenly spaced on the lid and set to the side for 10-15 minutes.
Light charcoal briquettes 15-20 minutes before needed.
Prepare the dutch oven by lightly greasing, it is best to use butter for this recipe, bottom and 3/4 up the sides.
Place berries in dutch oven and sprinkle with white sugar.
Mix dry ingredients together. Mix melted butter with dry ingredients.
Distribute topping over the top of the fruit and pat firmly into place.
Place dutch oven over charcoal briquettes and put lid on.
Every 8-10 minutes turn the dutch oven 1/4 turn and turn the lid 1/4 turn the opposite way.
Bake for approximately 30-45 minutes.
Bake until the top is crisp and lightly browned and the fruit is bubbling around the edges.
Serves 12 to 15 people.
